Former mayor accused of child pornography now facing animal cruelty charges

In addition to the child pornography and obstruction charges, former Sorrento Mayor Wilson Longanecker Jr. must now respond toanimal cruelty charges in his case.
According to reports, investigators with the Louisiana Attorney General's Office discovered photographs and videos depicting animal cruelty in hard drives and flash drives seized during a raid at his home in October.
Agents searched his home after allegations surfaced that he was in possession of child pornography. A laptop and two flash drives were confiscated in the raid.
Investigators said at least 40 videos and one image portraying child pornography was found in the drives. He was then booked into the Ascension Parish Prison.
Longanecker is scheduled to appear in court in January for arraignment. He is expected to enter his initial plea for the pornography and obstruction charges.
No additional information on the animal cruelty charges was provided.
