DESOTO COUNTY, MS (WMC) -
A $2,500 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of a man accused of dragging and severely injuring a dog.
In Defense of Animals, the organization that operates Hope Animal Sanctuary in Grenada, Mississippi, announced the reward. They said it is the third dog dragging case in Northern Mississippi in the last few months.
On Saturday, May 21, the dog (named Rebel) was taken from his yard and attached to the back of a black truck and dragged by the neck from a cable.
Rebel was dragged for a half mile until finally being able to escape from the collar.
Rebel suffered deep abrasions to his underside, side, and legs, and his jaw was ripped open and lost the pad to his right foot.
Rebel’s condition is considered extremely painful and it may be weeks before he is fully healed.
Man fined $1,000, no jail time in dog dragging case
People all over Mississippi are demanding justice for animal victims like Rebel. We urge anyone with information to come forward and put this violent and dangerous criminal in jail.”
Investigators believe this was a personal attack on the dog’s owner.
