Feb. 26--A Union Valley volunteer firefighter is no longer with the department after he allegedly posted photos of two dead dogs on Facebook, claiming to have killed the animals for being on his property.
A post was made on Tim Conatser's Facebook page of a graphic photo depicting two dead dogs, along with a caption that read "Somebody didn't put any truth my warning [sic]. Keep your damn dogs on your property."
Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks said Precinct 4 Constable Terry Jones is conducting an investigation into the incident, with the help of the SPCA of Texas.
A spokesperson for the SPCA of Texas confirmed they have an open case regarding the dog shooting.
The Union Valley Fire Department said they do not condone the actions and they are removing Conatser from the department.
"As previously stated, we do not condone the recent actions of one of our firefighters," Union Valley Volunteer Fire Department said on their Facebook page. "We are following our policy in removing him from our department. This is now a civil/criminal matter that we have no jurisdiction over. Please forward all concerns to local law enforcement and/or the SPCA."
Initially, Conatser was misidentified as a Royse City firefighter on social media, prompting the Royse City Fire Department to release the following statement: "Allegedly, a member of the Union Valley Fire Department posted a boast on Facebook claiming that he killed two dogs on his property. He included pictures of the deceased dogs. His Facebook identified himself as a fireman and claimed that he lived in Royse City. We have received a deluge of angry emails and phone calls this morning."
Calls to the Union Valley Fire Department were not returned by press time.
