Steven Caro, principal of this RANCH OF HORRORS was arrested and released, according to AC a criminal investigation for abuse/neglect and possibly other charges

To call this shithole a "sanctuary" is like calling a dog pound in Mexico a doggie spa...

"Paws Pet Ranch" in the Morongo/Palm Springs CA area operated and run by Steve Caro

MORONGO VALLEY — Animal control officers seized at least 120 dogs and 40 cats from a property at 9333 Bella Vista Drive this week.
M.HIDESERTSTAR.COM

BUSTED BY ANIMAL CONTROL and under criminal investigation (all exact charges still TBA)!!! Animal Control reported they served a search warrant and seized over 150 animals, many unaltered and sick/unvetted, emaciated dogs, dogs with matted urine-soaked fur and parasites, need I go on.....?

I mean REALLY, you still want to defend this guy or take no responsibility for continuing to defend this ILLEGAL kennel and rescue operation people were warned about for a long time? SHAMEFUL. The night before the raid several rescuers removed 30+ dogs off his property, meaning he had close to 200 (!!!) animals on his property with allegedly only 1 current caretaker (his nephew).

The rescuers who removed dogs are said to be in compliance reporting each animal, the animal's microchip number and condition to the investigating AC agency.

According to eye witnesses there were said to be dead animals o the property, mediocre make shift kennels with no protection from the harsh elements in deadly temperatures, kennels with no water in the scorching heat of Palm Springs CA. These photos taken on 6/22 would correlate with their statements! This was not only a illegal kennel operation but looks like a RANCH OF HORROR!!! Photos don't lie.

The top right photo shows 'Othello', a Shepherd Mix DEAD. He was laying halfway in his doghouse in this photo.

RIP Othello

Caro admitted in a video (since remove off his page) that the dog was left in the sun with no water and possibly chained up and died under his watch. Eye witnesses describe the "smell of death, urine and feces lingering" on this 2.5 acre parcel where close to 200 animals were housed. It is stated that AC is allegedly digging for dead dogs but this is unconfirmed.

Steven Caro, principal of this RANCH OF HORRORS was arrested and released, according to AC a criminal investigation for abuse/neglect and possibly other charges (TBA) is on the way. This rescuer has been known to Animal Control and many rescuers for decades.

A friend who is a veterinarian warned me about this rescuer when I started rescuing 20 years ago when Caro was operating in a different area.

Many people were FULLY aware yet CHOSE to look the other way, deflect or make excuses, sent dogs to this man because "he had a good reputation on social media" without verifying him or performing a premise check, or do ANY vetting.

Would you send your child to a stranger without a premise check, no proper checking/vetting.... Why is it any different to send a dog in harms way? If you buy the B/S and pathetic excuses, trying to make AC the boogeyman, if you want to ride the "meaning well" train of ignorance and deflect in denial whilst rescuers like this are continuing to compromise and hurt animals:

For the ones who wanted to help by removing dogs off his property, this note is from Animal Control: "This is an ongoing criminal investigation regarding potential animal cruelty. It has been shared on various public and private posts that dogs were removed from this property in the dark of the night. While the intentions of rescues/individuals may have been helping these dogs out of a bad situation, not reporting dogs in poor health and physical condition aids in covering up the abuse.

If any of the dogs removed were in poor health and/or required immediate veterinary care, you have an obligation to report these dogs to the investigating authority. Failing to do so, could indicate that you are INTERFERING IN A CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION OR HIDING EVIDENCE OF A CRIME.

We encourage anyone that took a dog from this property to call Animal Health Investigator, Christy Hamrick at 1-800-472-5609 (callers should ask to be routed to Investigator Hamrick's voicemail) or e-mail her at Christy.Hamrick@dph.sbcounty.gov
Dogs that did not belong to YOU or your rescue could be the legal property of someone else."

MORE TO COME.....
